Sweden in Seoul
The Embassy of Sweden in Seoul represents Sweden and the Swedish Government in the Republic of Korea. Its mission is to promote Swedish interests and to strengthen the exchange between our the two countries. We work closely together with Swedish and Korean partners in diverse areas ranging from political cooperation, trade promotion and cultural exchange. Sweden and the Republic of Korea are celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations throughout 2019. It will be a full year of collaboration between the two countries on business, innovation, inclusiveness, peace and security, sustainability and many other issues.

The KOREA INSTITUTE OF DESIGN PROMOTION(KIDP) is a public institution which was established under the Industrial Design Promotion Act in order to enhance national competence and brand value through design research and development, as well as the promotion of design industry. Designs that add beauty to technology and give new value to industries are now recognized as key capabilities that determine not only the success or failure of companies, but also of national competence, such as culture and industry. KIDP is making various efforts to publicize such roles of design to the public and ensure the competency of Korean design at a global level.
IKEA, under INGKA Group, entered the Korean market in 2014 with the opening of IKEA Gwangmyeong. Since then, IKEA Korea has opened its second store in Goyang in 2017 and held a groundbreaking ceremony for IKEA Giheung, its third store, in July 2018. Before each store Opening, IKEA conducts a wide range of research and home visits to understand people’s life at home in each respective area. Based on its vision “to create a better everyday life for the many people,” IKEA enables and inspires the many people in Korea to love their homes As a people-centric company as well as a good neighbour, become a great place to work for its co-workers while creating a positive impact in the local community.
