Q. What was the inspiration behind the project?
Always interested in the environment, so it was natural to think about the solutions to the problems earth is facing. As I saw a picture of a deformed turtle stuck in a plastic ring, I started this project and created a non-toxic bioplastic.

By using extracted casein protein from milk waste as the base of this material, it decays in an eco-friendly way when it is discarded, even if it ends up in a landfill or water. Because it is pure protein, safe for any living organism which makes it an ultimate solution for plastic pollution problems.

Creating gives me pleasure. However, following wastes I made affects adverse effects to environment. I felt guilty about inextricableness among crafting and making waste, and I lose my bearings. Meanwhile, wastes became a milestone.

<Practicality : 01. soil> focuses on wastes in ceramic market and suggests a circulation to produce ceramics out of wastes, induces producer and consumer to join in eco-friendly system. It reduces wastes while maintaining a market. This makes sustainable future people and nature coexist.

Bit (sunlight), Sol (pine tree), and Maru (in-between space between room and room) are three elements from traditional Korean housing, Han-ok, that can be reproduced in a modern house.

In a square-shaped plan, the space towards the North has a poor condition for natural lighting.
To solve this problem, we created penetrative external space and brought in light, wind, and rain to the courtyard with a roof sloping toward the courtyard.

Daydreamer was inspired by questioning how to have a short break in office. It is an experimental project that explores the sensation of tactility as a powerful tool to allow your headspace to be at the state of constructive daydreaming.

All objects are made with recyclable materials, which can be found easily around, also to avoid additional material production. I believe emotionally durable design - attachment to the object makes user possible to keep it longer than the lifespan, eventually environmentally sustainable.
Q. What was the inspiration behind the project?
The project was inspired by a shared refrigerator in Germany. Germany is doing well in the food-sharing with its website, but there is no online food sharing platform in Korea. This application can do that role.
Q. Please define the characteristics of your project and how it relates to this year's theme.
This app is a food sharing mobile service that can reduce food waste. Users share unused ingredient without throwing them away, which leads to food waste reduction and environmental protection. Also, we make sustainable Earth together by donating coins we got after sharing.
Q. What was the inspiration behind the project?
I was inspired by my mother's old wardrobe, which she no longer uses. I expressed this by feeling the geometrical fun in the closet where clothes are piled up densely, it makes me imagine her memories.

Fashion industry makes 92 million t of waste every year and uses 1.5 trillion L of water. Although 'Fast fashion' is accessible to all people, it is often discarded. I want to make it can be passed down to the next generation.So I made fabric by cutting and simple printing without any chemical process.
Q. What was the inspiration behind the project?
In order to attract a more qualified courier service, I focused on the cuteness and familiarity of a bear to the brand.
The zigzag pattern of the package became DearB brand image and developed into logo and character.

The accordion structure is more secure than conventional courier boxes because it has a wide range of sizes and a less risk of breakage.
If you return the used box back to the company,
the proceeds earned from recycling the box will be used to save the bear living environment.

I had been inspired by the paradox of the furniture industry that most of furniture we are using are not real wood. Instead, most of them are consisted of artificial materials that could exude toxic chemicals through a long time.

To achieve certain durability and sustainability, I chose a maple wood which is one of the hardwood family, based on its relatively short time taking to mature than other hardwoods, so that a new maple tree can grow mature enough until the existing furniture becomes useless.

LEAFS, leafs is a modular shelf that inspired by patterns of tropical plants. Using the material properties of Recycle fibers, it was possible to implement the repeated pattern of plants.

Clothes in contemporary are treated as consumer products and discarded too easily. However, I found the possibility of discarded clothes and found the meaning of their existence anew. The LEAFS, leafs is made of recycled fibers. You can see the mysterious colors of shelves through mixed fibers.

I majored in Cooking since high school, and I often worked in the kitchen. Cooking for someone makes me happy. However, as I faced new facts, my pattern changed. I am making kitchen utensils sustainable from environment and hygiene.

Garbage for garbage is constantly being made.
This product is designed to solve the problem of the existing sponge by design and can be recycled 100%. Also, it has ventilation, which reduces bacterial reproduction and is effective for drying. By modifying it, various dishes can be cleaned.

This project was inspired by the great power of small forces.
Small bees help pollinate plants through activity.
The pattern is inspiration of honeybees' small wings that become part of nature's cycle and become a large organism.

In order for the natural cycle to take place, all the objects in nature must be protected. You shouldn't have a part that disappears even one part. It means that we should all work together to protect nature, just like an ecosystem where everyone needs to work together.

It was inspired by Mother Nature's resilience. The Earth is constantly being destroyed by humans, but great natural forces are constantly regenerating them. The overall colors and curves of the work were inspired by the mountain ridge.

The design started with the idea that why don't shoes only be replaced with damaged parts like other products. Buying a new pair of shoes due to partial damage and wear while climbing and running causes environmental pollution.The design can be partly changed, is biodegradable material shoes.

Feeling shell is for adults who are looking for respite from daily life. The concept is a membrane which protects your feeling when you feel anxious and unstable. And, the flexible structure fits the user's position.

For making Nature atmosphere which is the perfect healing space, This artwork is made with 'Hemp cloth' (Korean traditional textile). Hemp cloth can be only made by people to weave linen fiber. And, Korean traditional starch which was used to make it durable does not have any chemical element.

Recently I learned that coffee grounds can replace plastic. Using this material, we designed a sterilizing product that can be sterilized and sterilized with a medium toothbrush, which has recently been spotlighted as COVID-19.

It is more eco-friendly because it uses coffee scraps to make plastics, uses the new materials to replace existing plastics, and reduces the overall use of plastics in terms of the combination of the two products.

It begins the characteristics of'eium and machum'(korea traditional connecting wood system)
The jointing of wood provides structural stability and flexibility. These characteristics refer to safety, various shape, and reusable.

Module with jointing of wood system expands and deforms and offers a variety of functions(shelf, pillar, wall, roof). It can be reused, and you can enjoy culture anywhere.Interpretation of the 'eium and machum' reduces the amount of wood thrown away and rethinks the value of tradition in design.

I was inspired by Holman's Riga Majig. First, I learned the responsibility of designer. Designed object remains that we must regard influence to society. Second, flexibility of product. It has open ending that people express creativity

Last year, about 2 million tons of waste wood be dumped in Korea. This abandoned wood was incinerated. The Vivid Joint project gives vivid life to waste wood that causes environmental problem. Users use suitable waste wood around and create furniture to suit their tastes without the aid of tools.
Q. What was the inspiration behind the project?
Inspired by children. When the children read books in the library, they saw distractions. Children will enjoy chairs with these characteristics. It can also be used as a play by attaching stickers to corrugated cardboard.

It was judged that corrugated cardboard, which is a recyclable material, is good for eco-friendly design. Flexible chairs perform various functions. It can also be divided and replaced when moving. There is less risk of injury.

One-third of the food produced around the world is being dumped into garbage. The project was launched with the aim of an eco-friendly attempt to reduce waste of food at home.

re:Duce is a refrigerator service that reduces food waste. It shows the expiration date intuitively in stages and helps to manage the refrigerator easily to reduce food waste. 'Green' begins with reducing some sort of pollution.
Q. What was the inspiration behind the project?
In the city, it seems impossible to have even a minimum space for survival. I've experienced the situation after my dad's company went bankrupt. I wish my project could offer condolence for those who became nomads unintentionally.

OccupyYourSpace! questions the usage of city space and seek for better solutions.
Users temporarily occupy a spot and share their stories and photos on the app. This allows people to discuss issues in our community through sharing personal experiences.
Q. What was the inspiration behind the project?
The carelessly thrown wastes remain in nature for a long time and animals eat waste or give to their baby. What made me think the most during project was shocking scene of animals that died after eating carelessly thrown away wastes.
Q. Please define the characteristics of your project and how it relates to this year's theme.
My work is a teaching aid with sustainable message for children. As children communicate through earth shaped matryoshka made of waste materials, they learn each material's biodegradation period. This will make children spark interest on environmental issues.
