The plant-based fur began when I saw a cat mistake bristle grass for a mouse and play with it. I realized the possibility of plant fur against animal or synthetic fur. The collection 'Universe' was inspired by YinYang and its philosophy.

The bristle grass was dyed with medicinal plants to retain medicinal properties and create healthy rainbow color palettes. My works are considered smart art, which as a practical textile, can alter people's lifestyle, inspiring them to discover the beauty of nature and sustainability.

The project was inspired from female beekeepers' idea. Colony Collapse Disorder is a phenomena that began in 2006, a disturbing trend that bees are disappearing. The suggestion from experts is to create sustainable safe home for bees.

"Hotel for Bees" is an eco-friendly beehive made of coffee grounds and biodegradable plastic. The walls of the bee's room is covered with dried coffee grounds, and the caffeine in it has the effect of promoting flight and movement for bees, preventing the mass disappearance of honeybees.

As a native born in Pyeongtaek City, an urban-rural complex, I know how important agriculture is to me. Therefore, I planed a service for my hometown, and for agricultural managers who have been engaged in agriculture for generations.

This year's KSYDA theme is 'Sustainable Design for a Better Future'. I am proud that my project to illuminate the value of young farmers and strengthen the competitiveness of sustainable agriculture in my hometown of Pyeongtaek and this year's theme coincide with the values pursued.
Q. What was the inspiration behind the project?
I was inspired by architectural structure of a Hanok. Hanok is the best way to circulate air into the house by embracing the natural air flow as it is open on all sides. So this could function as air circulation to feel natural air to breathe.

As we live in a rapidly changing environment, it becomes more difficult to experience the natural environment, and psychological rest becomes more necessary. So I made Bris to sustain the future by using elements of Hanok from the past, and sustainable rest from nature.

The shape of a common chair hasn't changed much since ancient Egypt. I wanted to design an ergonomic artifact with 100% recyclable material that would be comfortable for resting. This artifact serves as both sculpture and furniture.

Zero Gravity allows users to rest in their most comfortable state. Various sizes and designs are available. This sustainable, prefabricated furniture is light-weighted and uses minimum amount of material. Zero Gravity suggests a new direction of sustainable and bespoke furniture.

Ceramics is a hard, permanent material. I started the project by rethinking permanence which is considered a virtue, and thinking about the being needed in this era: Ceramics that are as alive as the time we use and return to nature.

Clay and natural waste are mixed to form a jar and fired at a low temperature. Orange peels and eggshells used together with soil reduce weight while maintaining the structure of the pottery and create a unique pattern on the surface. It is sturdy but not permanent, so it rots and decomposes after use.

Seeing furniture that is thrown away even though it is still strong, I wanted to create a special piece of furniture that can be used throughout a person's life and passed on to the next generation.

I wanted to make a sustainable product that can be used from children to adults and over generation, while building meaningful memories for a lifetime. Therefore, I pursued usability, resource saving, effectiveness, and a timeless style, which are the core of sustainable design.

Recently, architects have been predicting life after COVID19 and emphasizing the importance of flexible space. As a result, I have designed a shelf that changes flexibly depending on the need.

It is a multi-purpose space that changes according to the needs, and contributes to the sustainability of the community by flexibly changing facilities in response to the changing environment.

Researchers are Working on a Project that combines eggshells and gel to culture bones and implant them into patients. Bone inspired, unpredictable, organic shapes and rough textures give your neck and shoulder lines an unsettling feel.

This project reflects the "life cycle" of the product. Sustainable design starts with the recognition that the Earth is not infinite.Jewelry is made from natural materials and is biodegradable to return to nature. Now designers have to think of ways to bring all this back to nature beautifully.

While I examine the trend, I am reminded of the target that I want to draw. Also, the trend that I mostly focus on is keywords connected to analogue and I get a lot of my inspiration from cultures and goods from the 1980s and the 1990s.

I was shocked after watching a video of an abandoned Chinese shared bicycle grave on BBC News. I started working on the project thinking about how to make a new product using abandoned bicycles filled with the playground.

The demand for bicycles for the environment will increase as the number of bicycles thrown away increases in the future.
Therefore, I suggest a solution to the problem of abandoned bicycles by making a stool using abandoned bicycles.
Two stools were made using one bicycle frame.

'Rocking chair easily used by single households'. Rocking chairs are usually difficult to move them alone. So, I designed it to 4 parts that can be transported and assembled alone. For shape and structure, I referred to MDF modeling kits.

TRD is made by CNC processing and divided into four parts. Therefore, even if one part breaks down, it is possible to use it continuously by replacing it. In addition, it is completed eco-friendly by not using glue but wooden sticks and weaving straps except for the handle part.

The stimulation of a new environment or senses evokes a shift of thought and inspiration. The beautiful charcoal patterns and smooth texture will provide us new stimulation to improve work efficiency.

By filling the cracks with ceramics, not only does the beautiful patterns maximize, but it can also be increased strength and processability. It can return to nature, no harmful substances are generated and no waste from production to post-use.

What if we could turn hotel amenities into recyclables items? It will be able to reduce a lot of unnecessary garbages. So, I turned hotel amenities into recyclables and bundled them together to reduce display waste.

As a hotel that needs to provide many disposable amenities for hygiene reasons, if it can provide customers with more sentiment with less waste, the sustainability of many disposable products used in hotels can be improved.

I saw disposable trash thrown away around my house. Neighbors threw it away with care about recycling separation, but it was regrettable that efforts to separate and discharge food were going nowhere because of the leftover food.

Due to COVID-19, the use of disposable containers increased. They can only be recycled if they are discharged in the right way as well as separately discharged. RotSkin suggests a way to improve the phenomenon of discharging leftovers without removing them.

When I sanded PLA plastic, I was inspired to see it as subtle as hanji. I am usually interested in traditional Korean houses such as hanok and palaces. I want to promote a design that goes well with the image of Korean traditional culture.

The problem of environmental pollution is becoming more serious. At present, ordinary plastics are unable to return to nature. However, biodegradable plastics can return to nature. Recognition should be improved to ensure eco-friendly treatment using eco-friendly plastic.

I've been using all my washing stuff as a solid soap bar to reduce pollution, and experienced positive effects. I've started this project hoping that it could reduce waste and minimize impact on our planet by making upcycled washing tools.

By upcycling discarded ghost net & ugly farm produce and using biodegradable soap without plastic packaging, 'trash-wash' can reduce waste and water pollution. The DIY kit of 'trah-wash' can be used for environmental education and also can provide an experience of a new lifestyle to people.

Every year, about 60 million tons of fallen leaves are generated from the roadside trees in Korea. Surprisingly, 60% of the leaf waste are being disposed through burning, which costs up to 3 million dollars annually.

Leafpot is a DIY kit to create a biodegradable planter made of fallen leaves in the same way we cook convenience food. It starts from the foliage and ends up growing a new tree. The planter not only is biodegradable but also serves as a great fertilizer for the plant once it is buried in the ground.

According to the Global Assessment Report released by PBES, within a few decades, one million species of living things will be at risk of extinction, and within that decade, one-eighth of all plants and animals on Earth will disappear.

To cope with the unsustainable flow of resources, I designed Piece to Life to draw the movement in the daily life of individuals. 1 Record small daily environmental movements on the checklist. 2 Discard the garbage on the screen. 3 After all the garbage is disposed of, we find endangered animals.

Urbanization causes many environmental problems such as global warming. and Cities are expanding and natural areas are shrinking.
So I came to think of 'PLANTABLE ARCHITECTURE' as an alternative to make a new green environment system

1.'Eco+Brick' creates a pocket space for planting plants in typical bricks, eventually forming an 'architectural facade for planting plants.'
2.Residents can plant plants and naturally occurring plants can be distributed.

As a cooking lover, interested in how to recycle food waste. Most hard shells have discarded as regular waste without thinking of the recycling possibility. What if a product made from unrecyclable food waste? even beneficial to nature?

POTential consists of chitin extracted from shells of clam, oyster, and crab. No artificial energy was used for the pollution-free process. The material itself contains nutrients, so when it is done using, bury it in the ground to provide nutrients to support plants or buds after biodegradation.
Q. What was the inspiration behind the project?
People saw the ring cut off the lid of a pet bottle thinking about the environment. I wanted to help them think about animals.

Many PET bottles are thrown away and its rings separate and wander around the sea. Rings are threatening because they are stuck on animals. 'Plan B' cuts the ring when the lid is opened and is separated from the bottle with lid. Through this design, the ring no longer gets caught by the animal's body.
